Description: The GARP model is a note taking method that can be universally used to document clinical/therapeutic interventions and client progress. GARP is an acronym that includes a concise format to capture identified Goals, Activity, Response and the follow up Plan when

reflecting on engagement with students. This training will promote learning the art of progress note taking through a hands-on experience in how to structure a meaningful GARP recording.   Participants will be equipped with the knowledge and skills to write ethical and thorough notes that efficiently record student progress towards goals while also satisfying required documentation for billing purposes.

 

Learning Objectives:

At the end of this training, participants will be:

  1. Able to identify the information from a therapeutic session that should be included in a progress note in relation to GARP format in the school setting
  2. Able to understand what “Need to Know” Information is as it relates to therapeutic progress notes in the school setting
  3. Equipped with the knowledge and tools to write ethical and thorough progress note using GARP format in the school setting
